In the UK, the government have said that petrol, diesel van and car sales will be phased out by 2030. As well as this many major cities in the UK now have Low Emission Zones where you can only drive in them if your vehicle emissions are low, and the majority of diesel vehicles have to pay a significant amount per day just to drive through the zone. The introduction of these zones and the government’s initiative to phase out petrol and diesel sales has prompted many people to go electric as it is more convenient and good for the environment.
Battery
Generally, today's electric cars can usually travel between 150-300 miles on a full charge. This amount of mileage covers the majority of people, including commuters. This used to be an issue with electric vehicles, but their milage is now comparable to your standard petrol or diesel car. As well as this, you can charge your car from the comfort of your own home, menaing that you can get on with your day without thinking about that last minute trip to the petrol station to fill up, so your car is ready for the next day.
Maintenance
Electric cars tend to have a lot less maintenance that your regular diesel or petrol car. A lithium-ion battery motor doesn’t require any oil changes, no engine component replacements and won’t have the standard wear and tear that a combustion engine would over its lifetime. The battery of the vehicle does all the work; therefore, the vehicle will be cheaper to maintain.
