Gloucestershire Cricket food bank to help tackle food poverty in Bristol

AutoLyne giving a helping hand ...

Gloucestershire Cricket has committed to supporting food poverty in Bristol and South Gloucestershire with a brand new foodbank right here at the Seat Unique Stadium.

The foodbank is the brainchild of the Club’s new President, David Lawrence, and is being supported by Autolyne Car & Van Rentals and Leasing, who have volunteered to transport food donations made at Gloucestershire Cricket to the North Bristol & South Gloucestershire Foodbank.Members of the public will be able to make donations to the foodbank at the Seat Unique Stadium on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 June, between 8:30am - 12:30pm and 2:30pm - 4:30pm.

The project is the first of David Lawrence’s presidency and comes at a time when more than most are feeling the pinch in the current cost of living crisis. Glos Cricket’s home stadium will act as a central hub at which people can make donations, however big or small.

The Seat Unique foodbank can accept non-perishable food and (non-alcoholic) drinks, plus toiletries. All items donated will go to the most needy in Bristol and the surrounding area.

David Lawrence, Gloucestershire Cricket President, said: “Times are tough for a lot of people at the moment and as a Club we want to make sure we’re doing everything we can to support our local community. All donations will be of great value and I’d like to encourage our local residents to pop in to make a donation if they’re able to.

“Together we can make a difference to families and individuals who are struggling during the current cost of living crisis.”

The North Bristol & South Gloucestershire Foodbank launched 10 years ago and now has nine outlets throughout the area, working together to reduce hunger in our community. The Foodbank is part of the Trussell Trusts’ Network of 429 foodbanks, all working to tackle poverty and hunger across the UK. The network has provided 2,173,158 three-day emergency food supplies to support people in crisis, of which 832,109 went to children.

Ashley Lyne, Managing Director at Autolyne, said: “The AutoLyne team are delighted to be helping David Lawrence and Gloucestershire Cricket to support those needing a helping hand during these difficult times.”
